Brainstorming!

Today in class I was able to talk with my partners, Joanne and Kylie, and we finally put all of our thoughts together and decided what type of plot we want our short film to be about. Throughout our conversation we kept bringing up the movie Get Out because we want to make a short film that centers around a social issue while still being a thriller. Get Out is a thriller that presents a social issue involving how black people are treated in our world. As we kept discussing ideas we decided that we also want our short film to be about trusting someone and then having that person turn out to be someone completely different than who you thought they were. This is another aspect of Get Out that is inspiring us because in Get Out there is a plot twist about one of the main characters and the plot twist adds a shock factor that we want for our film.

We were talking about how this concept could work in a family because everyone usually trusts their parents or siblings, so what if your parents or siblings aren't who you actually think they are? We think this concept can work really well and would really shock our viewers. We were also talking about how we could maybe use Kylie and her twin sister Taylor for this idea, or maybe we can make the story about a couple and one of the partners in the relationship is abusive, but that's not revealed until the end of the film. I like the idea of leaving little clues throughout the film to hint that someone isn't how they actually say they are and then at the end it's revealed who they really are. I think we have a really good idea and I'm excited to fully develop it!
